Walt Disney Employee Handbook (circa 1943) Features Biggest Creep Ever

29 Sep

The folks at Brain Pickings posted pdf images of Walt Disney’s WWII-era employee handbook titled “The Ropes at Disney’s.”

The handbook is obviously illustrated, with a short narrative between a male employee and female employee  accompanying the pages of the company’s employee policies. And let me tell you, this guy is a creeper. Its no wonder the handbook doesn’t include any policy around sexual harassment in the workplace, because Disney pretty much encourages it through the illustrations. Dude’s basically a stalker:

The illustrations really play up the cat and mouse game – guy hits on girl, girl brushes him off, guy is persistent, girl gives in, guy is a hound dog, girl gets mad, etc etc. Whatever. This guy is a total creeper. These days, we’d send him packin’.

This post brought to you by Tara, who is rockin’ some nearly retro bangs like this chick.

Haha this is really creepy, but kinda hilarious too because it would just never happen today! Though, I feel like this kind of behavior of men was accepted as typical during the WWII era, you know with the rise of feminsim not yet have taken place and women only being able to vote for about a decade. I think its funny, but as a girl I want to roll my eyes too. Interesting find!
