So, we tweeted yesterday an awesome link from Ms. Magazine that highlights several of Nancy Pelosi’s accomplishments as the first female Speaker of the House in U.S. history.
The site also features this picture of the magazine’s latest cover:
Hold up, wait a minute. The first woman Speaker was never on the cover of Time or Newsweek, but our new Speaker—Congressman Boehner—was on Time, Newsweek, The Economist, and the New Yorker? AND before he even became Speaker?
Seriously? What the hell?
A huge thanks goes out to Ms. Magazine for schooling us on how many awesome things Pelosi led the House to accomplish and how underappreciated she was through it all.
Also, women make up only 17% of Congress? And only 24% of state legislatures? Ridic. Let’s encourage more women to run for office, elect them, and give them the media attention and praise they deserve for being strong, bold leaders and role models for women and girls everywhere.
